Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He is among the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. In 1975, he was awarded his third scholarship, and was named a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned his degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week while he attended college. He settled down in Tampa after college, played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the squad. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
