 Mitra was Lara's live-action actress. Mitra was the character as Lara Croft as Mitra. Angelina Jolie was cast in the role of Angelina Jolie in the Tomb Raider movies (2001-2003). Mitra was placed at No. 46 in the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2001. She played the romantic interest of Christopher Lambert in Beowulf. She played Scott Wolf's illicit lover in Party of Five, her first major role. Mitra was one of the minor characters in the film Hollow Man, which was released in 2000, as a neighbour who is victimized by Kevin Bacon. Mitra played a major role in the medical drama Gideon's Crossing, as Alejandra "Ollie" Klein. The characters she performed in Ali G Indahouse and Sweet Home Alabama were later followed by roles in Stuck on You and Highwaymen. Mitra played Tara Wilson in The Practice's final season. She then continued her role in Boston Legal's spinoff, but she was not able to play the same role for the end of season 2. In 2005, Mitra played the role of Kit McGraw during season 3 of Nip/Tuck. Mitra was later to be in Skinwalkers, The Number 23 and Shooter.In 2008, Mitra starred in the leading role in the action/science fiction film Doomsday as Major Eden Sinclair (sometimes mistakenly named in some databases as being Caryn Peterson) In 2009, Mitra went on to star in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans as Sonja who is the daughter of the strong vampire older Viktor (played by Bill Nighy). She grew fond of her vampire claws while filming and was unable to take her fangs off when they were not evident. "I set up the fangs on the very first day. It was strange. That's why I kept them throughout the duration of shooting, all through my dialogue, and even everything else." Stargate Universe was a series that had three episodes with her.
